Dr. Ryan Ainsworth

Owner & Veterinarian

Dr. Ainsworth's Bio
My name is Dr. Ryan Ainsworth, I attended Arizona State University and received my undergraduate degree in Agribusiness with a pre-vet concentration in 2004. I then graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008 and went on to complete a 1-year internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the VCA Animal Referral and Emergency Center in Mesa. I started working in general practice in 2009 and in 2014 I decided to purchase my very first practice, Mesa Northeast Animal Hospital, I then went on to purchase Noe’s Ark Animal Hospital in 2016, and then purchased Bark Avenue Animal Hospital, Bark Avenue Pet Resort, and Bark Avenue Pet Supply in 2018. A very exciting time! I became interested in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) and became a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist in 2012. I am an integrative practitioner, meaning I practice both Western and Eastern medicine. I currently see dogs, cats, reptiles, and small mammals including ferrets and rabbits.

My name is Dr. Candace Carson. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Oregon State University in 1996. I then married my college sweetheart, who became a US Marine. I traveled with him to several states and military bases for a couple of years before attending Veterinary School and in 2003 where I received my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University. Initially, I worked at a small animal hospital in Mission Viejo, CA for a couple of years before moving to Arizona where I worked in Scottsdale for 10 years, then joined Bark Avenue in June of 2015. My interests in Veterinary Medicine are broad including behavior and pain management, internal medicine, general surgery, and dentistry. Many pets are anxious when visiting their Vet, so I prefer to take my time to let them get to know me. I often sit on the floor with dogs and cats, letting them sit in my lap (size permitting!). My husband and I live in the area with our 2 boys and 2 dogs. In my free time, I enjoy camping, hiking, reading, gardening and serving in the Children Ministry at my church. I look forward to meeting you and your pets!

Dr. Cindie Brown

My name is Dr. Cindie Brown. I was born and raised in Tucson, where I decided to be a veterinarian at the age of three. I received my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona and then fulfilled my dream when I earned my veterinary degree from Colorado State University. I did a 1-year internship at a Mesa veterinary hospital and began working at VCA McCormick Ranch Animal Hospital in 2003 and Bark Avenue Animal Hospital in 2018. My areas of interest include chiropractic care, complementary medicine, surgery, chronic pain, feline medicine, and dermatology. In April of 2015, I was certified in veterinary medical acupuncture. My current pets include 1 dog: Jack, a slightly neurotic German Shepherd/Lab mix, and 2 cats: Stinky, a calico cat who was living in a parking lot before I rescued and brought home, and Crash, who was run over by a car and spent several years as a hospital cat. I also have an Arabian horse named Levi, I enjoy taking him to shows, on trail rides and he even pulls a cart. I love saltwater fish, gardening, growing orchids and last but not least, playing the harp.

Hi everyone, my name is Dr. Crystal Bley. I was born and raised in Mesa, AZ and I have had a love for animals since I was a little girl. I decided to pursue Veterinary Medicine after many years of being a technician myself. I attended Arizona State University for Pre-Veterinary Medicine and Agribusiness Management and graduated in 2008. I then traveled to St. George’s University in sunny Grenada for Veterinary school and finished my clinical year at Texas A & M School of Veterinary Medicine. Once I was back home I worked for a busy general practice before spending time at a spay and neuter facility for almost 2 years. I enjoy many aspects of Veterinary Medicine, but especially enjoy Dentistry, Dermatology, and surgery the most. In my free time I like to hike, travel, and read a good book. I have 2 cats that I rescued named Juju and Jasmine!

Hi y’all! I’m Paige Cooper. I was born and raised in Denver, Colorado, however after 18 years of snow I knew I needed to find a warmer state to live in. My two loves, volleyball and animals, brought me to Louisiana Tech University (GO DOGS) where I was recruited to play Division one volleyball and where I received my Bachelors of Science with a concentration of pre-veterinary medicine. Veterinary school brought me to sunny, Arizona where I completed my doctorate at Midwestern University. I have a passion for cardiology, nutrition, surgery, and preventative medicine. In my free time I love to workout, hike, travel, read, and spend time with my fiancé, Ian. Together we have two cats named Tiger Lily and Adelaide, and two dogs named Saint and Zara. My name is Ron, I have been working in the veterinary field since 2002. I have a special interest in skin diseases of companion animals and spent 7 years working with various dermatologists. I am also a member of the Arizona Veterinary Health Care Team where I keep up with continuing education and perform monthly veterinary dermatology lectures for peers across the country on VSPN (Veterinary Support Personnel Network). I traveled all the way from New York to Arizona in 2010 and now live with my spouse. 2 boys, and two pups Victoria, a Tibetan Terrier mix, and Albert, a wirehair Jack Russell Terrier!

What is your experience, including any schooling?  Prior to working with Dr. Ainsworth at MNEAH I worked at AHS which is where I started. While working at AHS I went to Carrington. After 4+ years, I enrolled at Penn Foster to get my CVT.

What types of pets do you have at home and what are their names? Cocker Spaniel Mix – Remington. Black Lab/Rottie mix – Rogue.

Why did you decide to work in the pet industry? It all started when I was 5 and loved horses and dogs, it just stuck with me even though my original plan was to be a nurse in human med.

What do you like to do in your free time?  Craft, clean, hang out with friends, go camping, fishing, swimming, travel, reading, building legos with or without my nephew.

If you could be any animal, which would you be? A zebra or a lion. I like to be relaxed and lazy but I also like to be in charge and be the boss but also protect my family.

What are you passionate about? Animals, traveling, books.

What is your secret talent? It’s not really a talent, but I am really good with directions. I can go some place new with a map/GPS once and remember how to get there again.

What is your experience, including any schooling? Recently I graduated from the East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT) with a 4.0 GPA, where I studied how to be a veterinarian assistant. Additionally, I have also received my American Veterinarian Assistant certification through the NAVTA exam. Furthermore, for the past three years I have volunteered with the Phoenix Zoo on Harmony Farm and the Equine center. My duties consistened of eduating guest, husbandry, and helping lead other ZooTeens in the daily duties.

What types of pets do you have at home and what are their names? I have a German Shepherd/Rottweiler mix who is turning six this year, and her name is Barnes. I also have a bratty cat who is eleven years old and her name is Sasha, but when she is being a brat, we call her Salsa.

Why did you decide to work in the pet industry? When I was a small child, I always attracted animals and I began to have a great love or each single one. Due to this, it had made realize what I wanted to do with my life ever since I was first asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?”

What do you like to do in your free time? In my free time I enjoy hanging out with my family, going up north to go camping, and writing about anything that inspires me.

If you could be any animal, which would you be? If I were to be any animal in the world, I would be the ocelot because at first glance, they always took my breath away, and hat’s what I aspire to do, especially with any shows I perform in.

What are you passionate about? I am passionate about leading a life filled with purpose, helping other realize their potential and spreading awareness for mental illness.

What is your experience, including any schooling? I started horseback riding at the age of 6. At 9 years old I started doing 4-H with horses, dogs, and rabbits until I was 18. After that I started teaching group lessons to kids at the barn. I’m currently knocking out classes to apply for the vet tech program.

What is your experience, including any schooling?  I earned my Bachelor of Science in Biology with a pre-veterinary concentration from Valparaiso University. While at college, I conducted research projects in the field of forensic entomology for three years. I have volunteered at an animal shelter, interned at a zoo, and worked as a kennel assistant at a different animal hospital.

What types of pets do you have at home and what are their names? I just adopted two kittens – Kitt & Katerina “Kat”

Why did you decide to work in the pet industry? When I was younger, I would rehab and rescue pond turtles (i.e. painted, snapping, and red-eared sliders) every summer. Four of my turtles had jelly-like shells. I took them to the veterinarian and the way she explained the disorder to me made me realize my passion to become a veterinarian.

What do you like to do in your free time?  I like to explore, hike, take photographs, play soccer, and volunteer.

If you could be any animal, which would you be? I would be a sea turtle because I have always gravitated toward the ocean and peaceful situations. Sea turtles are so majestic and brave.

What are you passionate about? I am passionate about helping animals and comforting people.

What is your secret talent? I am a very creative person. In high school, I won awards at various art shows for my black and white photographs and multi-media drawings.

Why did you decide to work in the pet industry? I am not in love with animals but I have a love for animal’s health and well being. I want to be a part of saving lives and helping animals in a clinical setting.

I have also spent time in Costa Rica volunteering as a vet assistant for mobile clinics, as well as volunteering at animal shelters, wildlife rehab centers, the equine therapy & Reid Park Zoo.

What types of pets do you have at home and what are their names? Yes! I recently rescued 2 lab mix puppies, Nala & Make. They are the sweetest girls and I am so glad we found them their forever home.

Why did you decide to work in the pet industry? I have loved animals ever since I can remember and I couldn’t imagine working anywhere else!

What do you like to do in your free time?  I love to play soccer and volleyball and go on hikes. I have found some great hiking trails in Arizona.

I was born in Phoenix, raised in Payson and moved back to Phoenix as an adult. What is your experience, including any schooling? I am a NAVTA certified veterinary assistant through EVIT. During that time, I took an externship at Phoenix Herpetological Society which helped me find passion for reptiles. Currently, I am working on my Bachelor’s at ASU for conservation biology.

What types of pets do you have at home and what are their names? Currently I have 1 dog named Andy. He is a German Shepherd / Akita mix. I plan to expand my furry family soon!

Why did you decide to work in the pet industry? I decided to work in the pet industry because I have always loved animals and had a different connection with them than most people. Ever since kindergarten, I knew I wanted to do something with animals.

What do you like to do in your free time? Right now, I mostly do schoolwork in my free time, but I would like to get back to playing in band, writing music, and playing live shows.

If you could be any animal, which would you be? If I could be any animal, I would be an alligator. I love reptiles, and my internship really helped me find that passion.

What are you passionate about? I am very passionate about conservation of wildlife. There are so many species in the world and I would hate to never be able to see them in person.

What is your secret talent? My not-so-secret talent is I’m double-jointed, so I can bend my fingers al the way back to touch my hand.

What is your experience, including any schooling?  14 years in veterinary medicine. Tech training at vocational school in Northern AZ. Equine Vet 7 years, Small Animal 7 years. I also trained in Seminary and am an ordained minister.

What types of pets do you have at home and what are their names? Horses: Peanut – Therapy Mini Horse, Candy – Pony, Sherman – Mustang BLM. Dogs: Nache, Diesel, Skylar – all mixes. Cats: Bracken, Bamboo, Arndd, Thomas. Rosie the Goat and 11 hens!

Why did you decide to work in the pet industry? I always loved animals. My 1st job was working with mules. After that it just kept leading me to this.

What do you like to do in your free time?  I am a chaplain volunteering with therapy animals all across the valley. I enjoy volunteering and helping people and animals. I am a trained counselor and enjoy volunteering. I compete in rodeos, Highland Games, and Strongman.

If you could be any animal, which would you be? A horse, bird, or ladybug. Horses are my favorite animal.

What are you passionate about? I truly love people and animals, I love helping them.

What is your secret talent? I am very patient, a fantastic baker, great at backing trailers, and can castrate a bull in under 13 minutes.

What do you like to do in your free time? Accepting this position gave me a way to combine two things I love which is building/facilities management and animals of all species.

If you could be any animal, which would you be? Our one and only dog was a Jack Russell Terror…I mean Terrier. I loved his energy. 

What are you passionate about? Life and all it has to offer and all sports, especially baseball, which I played for 16 years.
