Acupuncture
Stimulation of these points is performed by inserting thin, smooth, sterile needles. The depth of insertion, type of stimulation, and duration of treatment vary according to the disease or the condition being treated. Veterinary acupuncturists may use needles alone, needles with electrical stimulation, or stimulation using a specific type of low-grade electrical acupuncture.
Chiropractic Care
Dental & Oral Care
We are proud that we have the most up to date equipment to treat dental disease, including digital dental x-rays. This allows us to detect if there is any disease beneath the gum line that we would not be able to see otherwise. We are often able to see undetected abscesses, broken teeth, resorbed roots, retained roots, and more thanks to dental radiographs.
Dermatology & Allergies
End of Life Care
Our team will be here to guide you through end of life care and the difficult decisions that come with it. We will answer all of your questions about hospice and euthanasia and provide you with resources for this emotional time.
Laboratory
We also provide titer testing. A titer is a blood test that checks for certain bacteria antibodies circulating in a pet’s body that vaccinations normally prevent against.
We utilize these tests to assess your pet’s overall well-being. This helps us detect the trouble brewing in the internal organs by providing important clues to disease. We are committed to providing accurate and timely lab results for the benefit of your pet thanks to our extensive in-house laboratory capabilities.
Laser Therapy
At Bark Avenue Animal Hospital, we use laser therapy for a variety of ailments. Laser therapy is used to treat both acute and chronic injuries. The noninvasive treatment stimulates cell regeneration by increasing blood flow to the targeted area. This is used to accelerate the healing process following surgery, alleviate joint pain and treat degenerative diseases.
Some conditions that can benefit from laser therapy:
- Hip dysplasia
- Post-surgical incisions and soft-tissue trauma
- Arthritis and degenerative joint disease
- Musculoskeletal injuries
- Neuromuscular disease

Pain Management
Your pet’s comfort and health are our top priorities. When your pet is in pain, we’re here to help. We’ll work to find a solution to provide relief from the pain they’re experiencing. We offer a variety of treatments including pain medication, chiropractic care, and acupuncture.
Parasite Prevention
Parasites, and the diseases they carry, can all be prevented with proper medication and maintenance. Parasites like fleas, ticks, and heartworm are not only a source of irritation to your pet, but they can also harbor disease and adversely affect your pet’s health.
Fleas are small, jumping insects that live off of the blood of animals. They can carry dangerous diseases and will often cause allergic dermatitis ”severe itching” in pets.
Ticks are external parasites that live off of the bodily fluids of animals. They can carry diseases from one animal to another and are the main cause of the spread of diseases such as Lyme disease, ehrlichiosis/anaplasmosis, and Rocky Mountain spotted fever.
Heartworm is a parasite that can live in the heart of dogs and cats. Mosquitoes carry the worm from one infected animal to another. Several hundred worms can live in the heart of a dog and infection from the parasite causes significant damage and can be fatal.
Physical Therapy
Therapeutic exercise is a physical therapy intervention encompassing a broad range of activities designed to restore or improve musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary and/or neurologic function. The goals of physical therapy are to reduce pain, increase strength and mobility, aid in weight loss, and improve overall health.

Vaccinations
Many of the diseases that can affect our pets are preventable through proper vaccinations. Let our knowledgeable team guide you through setting up a vaccination schedule for your dog or cat to keep him or her protected.
Wellness Exams
During each visit, we will do a full-body exam and thoroughly evaluate each patient’s history to ensure we can make the best recommendations for their health. A wellness exam will include evaluating which vaccines are necessary, reviewing the best options for parasite prevention, weight management, and dental care.
X-Ray & Ultrasound
In some cases, your pet may need an x-ray or ultrasound for the veterinarian to diagnose what is going on. We provide both in-house!
Radiology
A radiograph (X-ray) is a type of photograph that looks inside the body and reveals information that may not be discernible from the outside. Radiography can be used to evaluate your pet’s internal organs like the heart, lungs, and abdominal organs, as well as bones. There have been many advancements in digital x-ray technology, and we can now manipulate the digital images that we take. This allows us to diagnose issues that may not be seen on a traditional x-ray.
Ultrasound
Ultrasonography is a type of diagnostic technique that uses ultrasound waves to produce an imaging study. This means that when we perform ultrasonography, we can see internal images of the patient’s body. Ultrasonography is a completely non-invasive, painless way to diagnose and evaluate many common diseases. Ultrasounds also allow us to look at the architecture of internal organs and examine location, size, shape, texture and blood supply.
